My current supplier is no longer carrying all the colours I need so I need to source a new supplier. Does anyone know where to find applique like this: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=26589&page=1&section_id=5099779&order= those are of course already in pasty form but it gives you the idea. I am in Vancouver, BC but I don't mind ordering on line. Thanks a bunch. Tabi...

Re: making jewelry while pregnant? - i was pregnant with my middle child and taking painting and jewelry classes with no problems. And doing it at home also. I even made sure with my ob first. We have a lot of chemical plants down here in here in Louisiana and many of her patients work there with no problems. Use the typical precautions and you should do fine. If you are worried about the residue on your hands you could try latex/non latex "surgical" gloves. I'd say the only thing you have to worry about is the baby becoming hooked on jewelry making and taking over all your supplies! lol...

Re: making jewelry while pregnant? - yeah, i was just wondering because when i make jewelry i often notice a metal residue on my hands-particularly with stainless steel and silver wires. but i notice with gold and copper too. wearing it is fine, but i wondered if forming wire jewelry would be a bit too much?...

Re: making jewelry while pregnant? - I've never heard it was unsafe to wear them while pregnant. Gold especially is a pretty inert substance. I can't see what harm could come, especially if you are not using other chemicals or fire....

making jewelry while pregnant? - Just curious: Is it safe to work (cold) with silver and gold and copper, etc. while pregnant? Is it just a no soldering/casting thing, or should one stay away from working with metals all together? A recent discussion led me to wonder and google is not turning up specific answers yet, so i thought i'd ask you ladies for input :D...

Re: Making your own paper beads: what kind of varnish to use? - yeah, trying to make it clear. Found some videos on youtube. They recommended a polyeurethane varnish. I got a fast drying spray and will spray them in the morning, as it's taken me a bit to get like 30 beads done from the first stages....

Rose Crochet Pattern - Does anyone have a good crochet pattern to make roses? I'm not talking about the Irish Roses, but rosebud looking flowers. My brother has been hooking carnations, and since we live in the "Rose City" (Portland, OR), he wants to make some roses to give as gifts, but can't find a pattern he likes. Thanks!...

Re: Holiday gifts in the mix? - I successfully made my first clothing item - a pair of PJ pants for my mother in law. She loves them! :D I also stitched cute little stuffed animal heads to the backs of mittens for my nieces using patterns from this book: http://www.amazon.com/Cute-Book-Aranzi-Aronzo/dp/1932234683/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1230741020&sr=8-1 It was super easy, quick, and they loved them. And felt is soooo cheap - I still have plenty to make lots and lots more cute little characters....

Re: Making your own paper beads: what kind of varnish to use? - I've been thinking about this for a couple days.. I don't know how you could do it any different than what you already tried unless!! you tried resin.. the kind that you use to make new table tops.. my daughter did one using china plates. She broke the china and layed it out in patterns and then filled it in with resin and smoothed in the spots to dry.. I've also seen it used in mosaic flooring..so there is some play in it.. but hardens really hard. But your tryng to make it clear so you can see the crinkle of the paper right?...

Making your own paper beads: what kind of varnish to use? - Anyone? I've tried a long time ago to make my own paper beads, but only used mod podge to seal them. It worked in that they were sealed, but it didn't harden them in any way so they were still very fragile and couldn't hold up like say, a wooden bead....
